Some game ideas, for a great kids camping holiday

GAMES TO PLAY WHILE CAMPING

Camping with family or friends is a great way to connect with each other. Being prepared with a few simple games and activities can help keep everyone happy, engaged, and active. Take a look at these simple family camping games to see how much fun it can be to spend time at the campsite, at the fire place or in the comfort of your bell tent!

Water Gun Races

To play this game, make a row of empty plastic cups along the edge of a picnic table. Fill a water gun. As you go, spray the glasses until they fall off the edge of the table. You can play multiple players and see who can knock down the most cups, or you can time each player to see who can clear the table faster. This place is ideal for the summer, and you might end up throwing water at each other!

Nature's Treasure Hunt

Create a list of items to find on your camping site, or print a nature's treasure hunt list before leaving home. If you're making your own list, ideas may include butterflies, shamrocks, interestingly shaped rocks, ladybugs, etc. Choose between 10 and 15 items to search. Form teams and go hunting. See who can find the full list of items first and they win!

Torch Tag

This is a fun game to play at camp once it gets dark. Give the "tagger" a torch or flash light and play "tag" as you normally would, except that the tagger uses the torch light to "tag" people. Once a player is "hit" with the light, it turns off and the game continues until everyone has been caught, or the player becomes the "tagger".

Water relay

A fun game for a hot day, and one of our favourites! Each person will need a glass to play. Players queue in single file. The person in front of the line has a glass full of water, all the other glasses are empty. The first person pours the water over their head into the next person's glass (without turning around and looking). The person behind tries to collect as much water as possible. The game continues until the last person has caught the water in their cup, if there is any left! So they run to the front of the line to start again ... but they might have to fill their cup first.

Launch of light bar rings:

Grab from 3 to 5 light bar rings, luminous bracelets or necklaces work well. Dig a stick into the ground to lift it off the ground. Take turns trying to throw your light bar rings onto the stick, whoever gets more rings onto the stick wins!

Alphabet Hunt: Camping edition

This game is ideal to play inside of your bell tent. Working together as a family, try naming an object at the campsite or campground that begins with each letter of the alphabet, starting with a. For example, s for snores, b for bell tent, c for campfire, etc.
